Bourns Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components for power, protection, and sensing solutions, has announced the release of the Model SSD Shunt Sensor - Digital Series. These Digital DC Current Sensors offer superior accuracy, stability and electrical isolation and provide high accuracy over a wide operating temperature range.
The SSD series includes innovatively designed digital DC shunt-based current sensors that offer superior accuracy, stability and electrical isolation over a wide -40 °C to +115 °C operating temperature range. The SSD series are small and highly integrated digital System-in-Package (SiP) devices which are well-suited for a wide variety of battery-related current sensing applications including large-scale energy storage banks, renewable energy generation infrastructure, industrial motor drives, building automation systems, and EV charging stations.
The SSD series features a 16-bit automotive-grade microcontroller unit (MCU) and delivers accuracy of ±0.1 % full scale. The internal 24-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) offers plug-and-play simplicity, helping to significantly streamline implementation so engineers can quickly add high-accuracy current measurement into their latest designs or retrofit it into existing ones. The digital shunt sensors are available in nominal currents of 100 A and 500 A with shunt resistances of 300 µΩ and 60 µΩ, respectively. The isolated design of the SSD series of digital DC current sensors allows it to be used on the low or high side of the circuit for maximum design flexibility.

The SSD series shunt-based sensors also help eliminate the need for periodic device calibrations, all while providing highly accurate measurements that contribute to more efficient use of power. The SSD series is available in two models: the RS-485 serial interface model, which can also be configured as MODBUS RTU, and a customizable CANbus model. The RS-485 model can achieve communication speeds of up to 921600 baud while the CANbus model can communicate up to 1 M baud rate.

Industrial and embedded applications are required to operate under increasingly more stringent conditions, deployed with tighter constraints on space and budgets, and under harsher environments. To meet these demands, Harwin have announced an expansion of the popular Kontrol range of industrial board-to-board interconnects (BBi), by adding single row connectors and cables to the 1.27mm pitch (0.05") connectors. The expansion of the range has been designed to bridge the gap between high-end connectors and established pin header and socket solutions.
The 6862I sensor, developed by Hope RF, represents a new benchmark in environmental sensing technology. This advanced digital barometric pressure and temperature sensor is engineered for applications that demand exceptional accuracy, low power consumption, and robust performance in challenging environments.
