Imagine seamless interconnections that harmonize our actions and environments with our daily lives. STMicroelectronics has once again raised the bar in motion sensing with the launch of the LSM6DSV320X which is like no other IMU, designed to monitor and safeguard users in their individual surroundings and contexts. This world-first innovative consumer-grade IMU sensor reinvents personal electronics and IoT by identifying contexts and intelligently configuring itself. This ensures extremely accurate motion tracking and measurement and enables precise reconstruction of the signal dynamics in both high and low acceleration ranges.
Designed for next-generation personal electronics, wearables, IoT applications and industrial-grade applications, this compact powerhouse delivers unmatched motion tracking capabilities in a low-power, low-noise package that redefines precision, performance, and adaptability.
Dual Accelerometers, Triple Axis, Infinite Possibilities
At the heart of the LSM6DSV320X world-first consumer IMU is a revolutionary mechanical structure that integrates two accelerometers and a 3-axis gyroscope in a compact package. This unique configuration enables the sensor to capture both low-g and high-g acceleration events with exceptional accuracy—without compromising sensitivity on subtle movements.
This multi-channel architecture allows simultaneous processing of data across four independent paths—user interface, optical image stabilisation (OIS), electronic image stabilisation (EIS), and high-g acceleration—making it the most versatile IMU in its class.
Edge AI and Context Awareness Built In
The LSM6DSV320X isn't just smart—it's intelligent. With embedded edge AI capabilities, including a finite state machine (FSM) and a machine learning core (MLC), the sensor can identify context and self-configure in real time. Whether it's detecting a fall, reconstructing a drop event, or monitoring intense movement, the IMU adapts to its environment without host intervention. This intelligent adaptability ensures optimal performance and power efficiency, even in dynamic or unpredictable environments.
Smarter Power Management with ASC
Power efficiency is critical in modern electronics, and the LSM6DSV320X delivers with Adaptive Self-Configuration (ASC). This feature allows the sensor to dynamically adjust its settings based on motion patterns or AI signals, optimising power consumption without sacrificing performance. Combined with ST's Sensor Fusion Low Power (SFLP) technology, the device ensures accurate spatial orientation while keeping energy usage to a minimum—ideal for battery-powered devices.

Design Support
The LSM6DSV320X IMU is supported by the STEVAL-MKI251A adapter board designed to facilitate the evaluation the LSM6DSV320X 6-axis IMU (inertial measurement unit). The board offers an effective solution for fast system prototyping and device evaluation directly within the user's own application.
The STEVAL-MKI251A can be plugged into a standard DIL 24 socket. The adapter provides the complete LSM6DSV320X pinout and comes ready-to-use with the required decoupling capacitors on the VDD power supply line. This adapter is supported by STEVAL-MKI109D evaluation platform which includes a high performance 32-bit microcontroller functioning as a bridge between the sensor and a PC, on which it is possible to use the downloadable MEMS Studio graphical user interface, or dedicated software routines for customized applications. The adapter board can be also plugged in other boards like STEVAL-MKBOXPRO and X-NUCLEO-IKS4A1.
The LSM6DSV320X is suitable for use in a wide range of other applications beyond consumer wearables and mobile devices. The LSM6DSV320X also opens up powerful possibilities in industrial environments such as Smart Manufacturing for real-time motion tracking for robotic arms, conveyor systems, and automated machinery, Worker Safety for fall detection, concussion monitoring, and emergency alert systems for high-risk environments, Asset Monitoring for vibration and shock analysis for predictive maintenance in heavy equipment and transport, Automotive Systems for Crash detection, impact reconstruction, and enhanced driver behaviour analytics and Logistics & Warehousing for Drop detection and handling analysis for fragile goods and smart packaging. Its ability to detect both low and high acceleration events with precision makes it especially valuable in environments where both subtle movements and sudden impacts must be monitored reliably.
Compact, powerful, and intelligent, the LSM6DSV320X is more than just a sensor— it's a smart, scalable platform for innovation. Whether you're designing next-gen wearables, smart health devices, or advanced automotive systems, this IMU delivers the precision, adaptability, and efficiency needed to stay ahead.
