Omron’s award-winning G9KA-1A-E relay family is redefining high-power switching for energy applications. Engineered for performance, safety, and compactness, this flagship SPST-NO relay handles up to 300A at 1,000V AC, making it ideal for EV chargers, UPS systems, and industrial inverters. Its construction ensures arc suppression and long electrical life, making it ideal for applications where safety, reliability, and endurance are paramount. With ultra-low contact resistance and efficient thermal design, it simplifies integration while boosting reliability and energy efficiency.
The G9KA-1A-E family is part of Omron’s broader high-power relay portfolio and is engineered to meet the growing demand for efficient and compact switching solutions in electrification and renewable energy systems. What sets the G9KA-1A-E apart is its ability to handle extreme power levels while maintaining a compact footprint, measuring at just 51.0 x 56.7x 54.5mm the relay enables system designers to optimise space without compromising performance.
The G9KA-E features an ultra-low contact resistance (Typical ≤ 0.2 mΩ) which is maintained throughout the lifetime of the relay. Contact resistance is one of the key characteristics for PCB high-power relays to reduce heat generation inside the component. This simplifies the thermal design process and offers wider design possibilities, including the use of smaller heatsinks and cooling fans. Ultimately, this improves efficiency and cost effectiveness of the product design. Additionally, its efficient low holding voltage capability further contributes to lower power consumption during relay energisation.
Omron have managed to overcome the temperature rise challenges faced by high-capacity relays; by employing years of technical know-how and world class manufacturing processes, they have developed the G9KA-1A-E power relay which delivers up to 1KVAC 300A with low heat generation.
G9KA-1A-E Construction
Available in 12 VDC and 24 VDC coil voltages, the G9KA-1A-E contacts are rated 300A max. switching current and feature 30K operations min. at 50 A make/break and 300 A carry current at 1000 VAC.
Recently demand from higher power applications like EV charging has led designers to look at high power PCB relays to replace contactors due to their size and ease of integration, however they still have a requirement for features that have previously only been available on high power contactors such as an auxiliary contact which is used to monitor the main contact for failure (welding).
To address this gap in the market, Omron have now extended the G9KA-1A-E relay family with G9KA-1A1B-E - the addition of a model featuring a Normally Closed (NC) auxiliary contact for main contact welding failure monitoring. Conforming to mirror contact structure defined in IEC/EN60947-4-1 Annex F7.2, this is the first relay in Omron’s high-power relay (>50A) portfolio to feature an auxiliary contact.
The auxiliary contact is rated at 30 VDC 1A and has electrical and mechanical durability of 100K operations, the main contact voltage and current ratings remain the same at 1000 VAC and 300A. To simplify integration and provide an upgrade path to developers, Omron have kept the coil and main contact pin outs and layout the same on the model with auxiliary contact, the additional auxiliary contact pins are positioned on the opposite side of the relay to the main power contacts. The addition of the auxiliary contact increases the length and height dimensions of the relay slightly from 51.0 x 56.7 x 54.5 mm to 61.0 x 56.7 x 58.5 mm.
