Stanley Electric have released the ZEUBE265 series of 265nm peak wavelength UVC LEDs which are proving very effective in the fight against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. It has long been known that UVC light can achieve a reliable anti-bactericidal effect simply by irradiating with UV rays, it can also disinfect pathogenic micro-organisms that cause infectious diseases and health problems in the human body and is effective against various bacteria and viruses including COVID-19.
Stanley Electric have conducted testing on the ZEUBE265 series of 265nm UVC LEDs in cooperation with the Yamaguchi-University by Dr. Daisuke Hayasaka and Dr. Hiroshi Shimoda. As a result of this evaluation test, Stanley Electric has confirmed high effectiveness of virus inactivation (inability to multiply) of SARS-CoV-2 using their 265nm UVC LED.

This 3rd party evaluation concluded that exposing Viruses and Bacteria with Stanley Electrics unique 265nm wavelength deep UVC LEDs proved more effective at inactivating Coronavirus than other wavelengths
The ZEUBE265 series of 265nm peak wavelength UVC LEDs are also highly effective against a wide range of other viruses and bacteria as the below chart demonstrates.
Estimated time required for 99.9% disinfection (Irradiation under the same conditions with a 265nm UV LED)
The ZEUBE265 series UVC LEDs are manufactured using Stanley Electric’s own integrated production system that covers every stage of UVC LED production, from semiconductor substrate growth to LED packaging. This in-house capability gives many advantages including highly stable quality control, higher production yields allowing better performance products with lower cost.
The ZEUBE265 series 265nm UVC LEDs are available in 4 power outputs, 25mW, 30mW, 35mW and 50mW, the LED’s are housed in a compact, hermetically sealed 3.6x3.6x2.24mm package which protects against damage caused by humidity. Constructed using a ceramic substrate material, the LEDs have a low thermal resistance offering superior performance and are suitable for high drive currents. The LEDs have wide spatial distribution of 120° enabling good area coverage.
ZEUBE265 series UVC LED Construction
The ZEUBE265 series UVC LED’s are suitable for a wide range of applications including Water purifiers, Waste treatment equipment, Water dispensers, Surface disinfection, Medical instrument disinfection, Food processing machines, Disinfection lighting, Air purifiers, HVAC and Ozone concentration meters.
Stanley Electric have also made available a range of ZEUBE265 series LEDs pre-mounted on aluminium PCB’s complete with connectors and lead-wires, these evaluation boards allow engineers to quickly develop prototypes for testing helping to speed up time to market.

UV LEDs emit high intensity ultraviolet light. Do not look directly into the UV light source during operation; this can be harmful to your eyes and skin. Wear protective eyewear to avoid exposure to UV light, as well as protective masks and gloves, etc. in order not to expose your skin to the light. Take the same measures against leak light and reflected light.
