The STEVAL-MKSBOX1V1 (SensorTile.box) from STMicroelectronics is a ready-to-use box kit with wireless IoT and wearable sensor platform to assist with the development of apps based on remote motion and environmental sensor data, regardless of the level of expertise.
The STEVAL-MKSBOX1V1 SensorTile.box board fits into a small plastic box with a long-life rechargeable battery, downloading the ST BLE Sensor app on your Android or Apple smartphone enables connection via Bluetooth to the board and allows users to immediately begin exploring the wide range of default IoT and wearable sensor applications.
The SensorTile.box has the latest generation of STMicroelectronics sensors already embedded, in particular the new 6-axis IMU LSM6DSOX featuring MLC (Machine Learning Core). MLC process data leveraging AI techniques; 8 independent MLC are embedded in the LSM6DSOX sensor device. The SensorTile.box wireless multi sensor development kit also enables different usage modes from Entry level with ready to use functionalities and no need to program anything through to a PRO mode which is dedicated to developers who want to easily develop a proof of concept with a Framework based on STMicroelectronics Cube.MX.
ST BLE Sensor application is available for Android and iOS and shows the data exported by a BLE device using the BlueST protocol. The app shows different panels based on the data types exported by the firmware, including: environmental data, MEMS sensor fusion, plot, activity recognition, carry position, acceleration event, BlueVoice, speech to text, beamforming, sound source localization, pedometer, switch, motion intensity, compass, cloud logging, node status. All the data received by the app can be logged in CVS files and exported by e-mail. If the firmware supports the functionality, the application can also show a serial console to exchange string messages with the board. This functionality is also used to upgrade the board firmware.
Both Android and iOS applications support the Bluetooth secure pairing with pin, for Android it is also possible to use an NFC tag to read the pin and trigger the connection with the node. The app can be downloaded via the buttons below.
In Expert Mode, it is possible to build customs apps from the users selection of SensorTile.box sensors, operating parameters, data and output types, and special functions and algorithms available. This multi sensor kit therefore allows design of wireless IoT and wearable sensor applications quickly and easily, without performing any programming.
The STEVAL-MKSBOX1V1 SensorTile.box includes a firmware programming and debugging interface that allows professional developers to engage in more complex firmware code development using the STM32 Open Development Environment (STM32 ODE), which includes a sensing AI function pack with neural network libraries.
