The Cinterion® Connect Shield from Gemalto: speed and simplify the creation of IoT applications

ADV title

The Cinterion® Connect Shield is an easy-to-use maker board, based on the ELS61-E LTE Cat.1 cellular module, that combines the flexible and widely used Arduino open source platform with Gemalto’s reliable and highly efficient cellular connectivity. Designed for professional developers and inventors, the shield is a powerful tool to simplify hardware and software integration and quickly transform ideas into prototypes in just hours.

The ELS61-E is a LTE Cat.1 wireless module is a highly efficient 4G LTE connectivity tailored for Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and industrial Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The Cinterion® M2M module features power-optimized performance and speeds of up to 10Mbit/s download and 5Mbit/s uplink which optimizes the overall cost for IoT applications. This makes it an ideal solution for IoT applications such as metering, tracking and tracing, fleet management and mHealth that require the longevity and reliability of LTE in the decades ahead as 2G and 3G networks phase out.

The Cinterion® Connect Shield advances Gemalto’s suite of user-friendly development tools, providing an easy-to-use maker platform for innovating IoT applications.

It combines the flexible and widely used Arduino open source environment with highly efficient cellular connectivity to enable maximum flexibility in building proof-of-concepts.

Industrial and embedded applications are required to operate under increasingly more stringent conditions, deployed with tighter constraints on space and budgets, and under harsher environments. To meet these demands, Harwin have announced an expansion of the popular Kontrol range of industrial board-to-board interconnects (BBi), by adding single row connectors and cables to the 1.27mm pitch (0.05") connectors. The expansion of the range has been designed to bridge the gap between high-end connectors and established pin header and socket solutions.
