The BAC3 series from Murata offers a ruggedly designed, flexible family of efficient AC/DC converters suitable for a wide range of applications including industrial, medical, building automation and IoT devices. The converters are designed to operate from an AC or DC input voltage, increasing its flexibility, and is offered with a choice of 3 fixed DC output voltages.

The BAC3 series can operate from an input voltage range from 85 to 264 VAC or 120 to 370 VDC, this flexibility allows it to be easily designed into equipment which can be deployed in any global region with the knowledge it will operate reliably and safely. The converters have typical efficiency of up to 81% (depending on model chosen) and are offered in three popular regulated DC output voltage options of 5V, 12V and 24V. Designed to be rugged and with safety in mind, the BAC3 series are Hi Pot tested to 4.25kVDC isolation and feature overcurrent and short circuit protection.

The BAC3 series delivers output power up to a full 3 watts over the temperature range -40°C to 65°C and is capable of operating up to 85°C with derating. The converters output is regulated with excellent load regulation of ±1% max. over the output load range from 10% to 100%. Featuring high efficiency even at low loads and low no load power consumption, the BAC3 series can also support ultra-low standby mode operation.

The BAC3 series has a compact footprint measuring just 1 inch square (25.4 x 25.4mm) and a height of just 16.3mm. The series is EMC class B compliant without the need of any external components making it a simple to design in, very PCB space efficient and cost effective option.

The BAC3 series is UL62368-1 recognised and EN62368-1 certified, in addition they have IEC61558-1, ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1, 1 MOPP/2 MOOP recognition pending meaning they are also suited to medical applications.
