Linear Systems Launch Replacement for the BF862 Ultra-Low Noise, High Input Impedance JFET Amplifier. Samples available from Anglia

If the discontinued BF862 is still specified in your existing or new designs, there’s now a straightforward replacement from Linear Systems.

Linear Systems has introduced the LSBF862 Ultra-Low Noise, High Input Impedance N-Channel JFET, designed as a direct, improved replacement for the discontinued NXP BF862. Offering exceptional low-noise performance, high input impedance and a higher breakdown voltage, the LSBF862 enables engineers to support existing BF862-based products while providing a strong choice for new designs.

Designed for demanding low-level signal applications, the LSBF862 combines excellent noise performance with high input impedance and low capacitance. Its symmetrical geometry allows the source and drain to be interchanged, while specialised testing and screening options provide additional flexibility for demanding applications. It is ideal for low-noise audio, acoustic, and sensor front-end applications.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Low 10 Hz Noise
  • High Input Impedance, Low Capacitance
  • Higher −40 V Gate-Source Breakdown Voltage
  • Radiation Tolerant (No Special Hardening Required)
  • Symmetrical Geometry — Source/Drain Interchangeable
  • Special Testing Available for VGS, IDSS, and Other DC Parameters
  • Superior Noise Performance for Audio, Acoustic, Instrumentation and Sensor Applications
  • Seamless Drop-In Replacement for the BF862 — No Redesign Required
  • Support for Legacy Designs
  • Customisations available by specialized screening and selections

Special screening is available across Linear Systems’ product lineup including JFETs, MOSFETs, Bipolar Transistors, Current Regulators, and Diodes. Available in the SOT-23 3L RoHS package, as well as in die form.

The LSBF862 is available in the compact surface mount SOT-23 3L RoHS package, as well as in custom die form, and supports both legacy and next-generation designs.

With its combination of low noise and high input impedance, the LSBF862 is suited to a wide range of precision applications, including: Audio & Acoustic Amplifiers, Charge, Buffer, and Sample-and-Hold Circuits, Discrete Operational Amplifiers, Transimpedance Amplifiers (TIAs), Photodiode and Piezoelectric Preamplifiers, Microphone, Hydrophone, and Sonar Front-Ends, Medical Instrumentation: ECG, EEG, EKG, MRI, PET and High-Impedance Probes and Spectrum Analysers
