OMRON have released the compact, efficient G9KA PCB power relay rated at 800V / 200A, the relay was initially designed for power conditioners (PCS) associated with renewable micro power generation, as well as inverters and UPS systems but is also suitable for use in many other applications where demanding loads need to be handled.
OMRON identified that heat generation has become a major issue for customers in high power applications as density of components increases, their design team have innovated in terms of the structure of the G9KA relays, the materials used and the manufacturing quality to achieve an exceptionally low contact resistance, facilitating the customer’s thermal design and reducing design cost.
High power applications demand high energy efficiency as well as low heat generation, the OMRON G9KA is an ideal relay solution because it benefits from an exceptionally low contact resistance for this class of relay at just 0.2mΩ, this helps reduce the heat generated in the relay by over 30% compared with current equivalent devices on the market. The G9KA provides ultra-low initial and end of life contact resistance resulting in low heat dissipation, this helps to minimize heat stress at PCB level, extending operational life of end products. Furthermore this also reduces the need for thermal management components such as heat sinks or fans reducing overall system complexity and cost whilst at the same time improving reliability by reducing heating of the surrounding components.
Not only have OMRON developed a high power, high energy efficient relay with low heat generation, they have also managed to package it in a housing measuring just 50mm x 50mm x 50mm, yes you did read that correctly, the G9KA boasts a 30% smaller footprint and lower height than an equivalent rated contactor.
The G9KA relay has PCB terminals and is rated for use at temperatures from -40°C up to 85°C, it has a SPST-NO (1a) contact arrangement constructed from an Ag Alloy material with a rated carry current of 200A, max. switching current of 200A and max. switching voltage of 800VAC. The relay is available with a choice of 12V and 24V coils with resistance and rated currents of 28.8Ω/417mA and 115.2Ω/208mA respectively. The relay is also UL Recognized, and EN/IEC TUV, UL and CQC Certificated.

OMRON has launched PWM coil controlled versions of three of its most popular power relays, all three relays offer coil power levels 75-90% lower than comparable standard DC coil versions and support pulse width modulation (PWM) of the coil holding current
Building on the success of its popular G2RL series, Omron has now added an extra high capacity relay model to the family, the new G2RL-1A-E2 model is capable of handling switching currents up to 23A
OMRON has release a new series of optical sensors, featuring a longer detection distance. The OMRON B5W sensors are particularly effective at identifying black, transparent, reflective and other hard to detect surfaces.
The 2SMPB series of MEMS-based barometric pressure sensors from Omron Electronic Components Europe have been designed to support height and pressure measurement in drones, smartphones, pedometers and other battery powered mobile devices.
Omron Thermal Infrared sensors, the D6T family, these sensors offer accurate non-contact temperature measurement and feature a silicon lens and MEMS thermopile to detect far-infrared radiation emitted from the surface of the face or body
