Wisbech, 24 February 2021 - Anglia Components, the Wisbech-based electronic components distributor, will present cheques totalling over £5000 to two charities chosen by its employees in 2020. The Salvation Army Wisbech and the MNDA (Motor Neurone Disease Association) will each receive a £2,500 donation to their causes, alongside a split donation of £210 made by employees through savings on Christmas cards. Although staff were not able to fundraise as usual due to the pandemic, the donation from Anglia represents the company’s commitment to continuing its annual charity support.
Steve Rawlins, CEO, commented, “It’s important for us to give back to the Wisbech local community, especially since so many of our employees are from the area. We’re delighted to make a donation to two charities that have such personal significance to our staff and we’re looking forward to seeing what our fundraising in 2021 will achieve.”
Anglia has a history of fundraising activity in the local area. Each year, the company requests nominations from its employees for the selection of two annual charities – one local and one national. 2019’s charities were Little Miracles Wisbech and Duchenne UK. Last year’s local charity, The Salvation Army Wisbech, provides support to the most vulnerable people in the area, through debt advice, lunch clubs and help for the homeless. The charity runs a second-hand shop and employment service in the area. The MNDA focuses on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by Motor Neurone Disease in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Anglia is currently taking nominations amongst its staff to choose the two charities for 2021.
